Introduction

By exploring the Laidlaw family records the company can be traced back to 1844. The business now rests in the hands of the current proprietors, Robert and Jack Laidlaw, under whose guidance it has gone from strength to strength in the building and restoration sector of the construction industry.

2002 was a year of change for the company. During this twelve month period the company purchased a local plastering firm and moved its office premises and scaffolding yard to a purpose-built building situated at Bankend Industrial Estate, Jedburgh. The Building, Joinery and Plastering premises remain at Upper Bongate Mill, Jedburgh.

The company is continually growing and branching out into new areas. Therefore our staff are of the utmost importance. All our employees are fully trained in all aspects of their work and have been employed with us for periods ranging from months to 25 years and beyond. We have a predominantly local workforce of over 45 stonemasons, bricklayers, joiners, scaffolders, plasterers and plant operatives, including two apprentices. Although generally acting as main contractor, we also use a large, reliable group of local subcontractors (all trades), who work with us on a regular basis.
