Robert Laidlaw

Robert Laidlaw, Director
Estimating, Project and Site Management

Robert Laidlaw joined the business after leaving Jedburgh Grammar School in 1966. Over the last 30 years he has been the driving force in transforming the company from four men and one small lorry to one of the largest and most respected building contractors in the Scottish Borders.

He lists his interests as gardening, forestry, skiing, burning branches and barbequing in all weathers.

 

Jack Laidlaw

Jack Laidlaw, Director
Health & Safety, Scaffolding, Plant & Machinery and Employee Training

Jack Laidlaw also joined the family business directly from school and is largely responsible for the everyday running of the various building sites. In the last ten years he has overseen the development and expansion of the scaffolding division and today the Laidlaw blue and red lorries are a common sight all over the Scottish Borders.

He lists his interests as walking, scaffolding, skiing, classic cars, scaffolding and sailing.

 

Ann Laidlaw

Ann Laidlaw, Company Secretary

Ann Laidlaw became involved in the administration of the business soon after her marriage to Robert Laidlaw in 1975. Since then she has seen the office move from a small home office to the new purpose built premises it occupies today.

Ann lists her interests as gardening, walking, theatre going, retail therapy and white wine.

 

Susan Brown

Susan Brown, Administration

Susan joined John Laidlaw & Son in 1996, and is now a key member of the workforce. She is responsible for duties such as general administration, payroll, sales, purchase ledgers and Health & Safety administration.

 

Wendy Campbell

Wendy Campbell, Administration

Wendy is the newest member of the team, joining the business in November 2003. Having moved from a similar background, she is quickly learning all the aspects of the business, and the administration processes which the position involves.

 

Tony Turnbull

Tony Turnbull, Plant Manager

Employed by John Laidlaw & Son in 1979 as lorry driver/mechanic, Tony was present when the first heavy goods vehicle was purchased. Due to the expansion of the business in recent years, Tony has been promoted and is now responsible for plant and machinery, site health and safety and vehicle maintenance.

 

 

Bella

Bella

Bella was adopted by the Laidlaw family five years ago and is now in charge of office security and rabbit control. She is a common sight on all our projects; and on a lucky day, she has been known to be a lunch box raider.
